Shelby has experience working with a variety of clients. She has previously worked with children and adolescents in a residential psychiatric facility with severe trauma related issues and mood disorders. During her graduate degree, she worked in a private practice that specializes in adults with substance abuse disorders and matters of domestic violence. Shelby has also seen adult clients for Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, and other mood issues. She is also a LGBTQ+ informed/friendly counselor and would love to serve a previously underserved community!
Throughout her previous experiences, she has found her approaches to therapy to be: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She believes the counselor and client relationship is a collaboration where the client's experiences and feelings are combined with the counselor's tools and knowledge to help facilitate movement forward, while considering the client's past. Shelby insists on the therapeutic relationship being one of openness, respect, compassion, empathy, trust, and the freedom for the client to be their true selves.
Shelby is passionate about helping people, will provide excellent client care, and will always do her best to be the greatest ally to every single one of her clients.
