Brainspotting
A Trauma‑Informed, Brain‑Based Approach to Healing
Kentucky Services offers Brainspotting, a powerful, evidence‑informed therapy that helps individuals access and process unresolved trauma, emotional pain, and stress stored in the brain and body. Brainspotting works by identifying and using specific eye positions—called brainspots—that are directly connected to unprocessed experiences, allowing the brain to naturally move toward healing.
This modality is gentle yet deeply effective, supporting healing at both emotional and physiological levels.
What Is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach developed from neuroscience and trauma research. It is based on the idea that where you look affects how you feel. By identifying eye positions that activate emotional or physical responses, Brainspotting helps access parts of the brain where trauma and distress are stored—often beyond conscious awareness.
Unlike talk‑only therapies, Brainspotting allows processing to occur without needing to relive or verbalize every detail of an experience.
How Brainspotting Works
During a Brainspotting session, your clinician will help you identify a brainspot using eye position, body sensations, and emotional cues. Once located, the brainspot is held while the brain does the work it naturally knows how to do—process, release, and integrate.
Sessions are collaborative, client‑led, and paced according to your comfort level. You remain fully present and in control throughout the process.
Brainspotting may be helpful for individuals experiencing:
Trauma and post‑traumatic stress
Anxiety and chronic stress
Depression
Emotional regulation difficulties
Performance anxiety or creative blocks
Grief and loss
Attachment and relational trauma
Somatic or body‑based symptoms related to stress
Many clients report increased emotional clarity, reduced distress, and a greater sense of calm and resilience over time.
Is Brainspotting Right for You?
Brainspotting may be a good option if you:
Feel "stuck" despite previous therapy
Experience emotional or physical reactions that are hard to explain
Want a less verbal, more body‑based approach
Are seeking trauma‑informed care that respects your pace
If you’re unsure, our clinicians are happy to discuss your needs and explore appropriate treatment options.
