Focused Dyslexia Evaluation

Age 5 and Up

If you or your child struggles with reading, spelling, or understanding written language, a comprehensive evaluation can help clarify whether dyslexia is present and guide effective support. What’s Included in Your Evaluation:

    • A brief, standardized measure of general intellectual functioning that estimates verbal and nonverbal reasoning skills. This helps confirm that reading challenges are unexpected relative to overall cognitive abilities.

    • A digital set of cognitive tasks measuring attention, working memory, processing speed, and executive functioning. These insights help understand how thinking processes may impact reading.

    • A structured interview assessing daily living skills, communication, and social functioning. This measure ensures that difficulties are not due to broader developmental disabilities.

  • A comprehensive assessment of reading skills, including:

    • Word decoding and phonological awareness

    • Spelling and reading fluency

    • Comprehension of written language

    •  This tool is specifically designed to align with the latest research and diagnostic criteria for dyslexia.

  • A licensed Master's leveled clinician will conduct a thorough interview to gather background history, observe test-taking behaviors, and ensure that all relevant factors are considered.

Evaluation Cost and Payment Options

  • Kentucky Medicaid: Covers 100% of the cost

  • Commercial Insurance: $500 plus the cost of your copay per visit

  • Private Pay Rate: $1,000 total fee
