Heather Dombrowsky
Licensed Psychological Associate
MEET HEATHER (she/her/hers)
I received my degree in Clinical Psychology with specialized training in Forensic Psychology, Psychological Assessment, and the treatment of substance abuse, trauma and Severe Mental Illness (SMI). As such, I enjoy and have several years' experience working with complex patients in a variety of settings. Due to the diversity of my experiences and training, my therapeutic orientation is equally inclusive. I believe that each patient is a unique individual with unique experiences and problems and consequently, deserves a unique therapeutic experience tailored to them. Although I am formally trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches and interventions, I tend to primarily utilize Psychodynamic, Interpersonal, CBT/DBT/TF-CBT and Motivational Interviewing techniques and approaches into my practice. I also believe in practicing and teaching healthy communication skills through in-vivo techniques such as modeling, offering constructive feedback and/or planned ignoring. Together, I can show you and/or your loved ones how to implement such skills and techniques in real life!
I believe the key to therapeutic success and a strong therapeutic relationship is open and honest communication. As such, I avidly practice and model healthy communication skills that are supportive, understanding and non-judgmental, yet assertive.
